Red Bull Racing RB07 - 2011 Formula One World Champion
Project progress: first test engine built
In order to built the V8 engine that will power the scale model RB07 a series of test engines will be built. The first test engine was already assembled and tested in Dec 2011
The engine is a real 4 stroke engine that runs with nitromethanol, using a glow plug. The engine has been built entirely from scratch and will be used to develop the V8 engine that will eventually run the Red Bull RB07 at 1:5 scale.

With this, I learned a lot, especially on valve and engine head manufacturing. The head is of the type OVH with a chain system. The engine is air cooled and no active lubricatin systems are used.

The next step will be to remake the engine block to decrease the stroke size to 8.5 mm, which will be the real 1:5 F1 stroke. With this also dry sump system will be designed in order to freeze the design for the V8 at the lower part of the engine. Afterwards, a new head will be made with 4 valves / cylinder.
